An exciting new chapter for E17
Share

It was a dark December day, just before Christmas 2021, when the seed for this newsletter, E17, was planted. It was a simple idea, to create an email which reflected the full and very rich life of Walthamstow.

Yes there would be news, but that could only ever be part of it. E17 is full of amazing people doing brilliant things, unique businesses transforming our streets every week and a hefty dose of artistic and entrepreneurial drive which makes this area one of the most creative in London.

In March 2022 we sent our first edition, featuring a delightful piece speaking to residents about why they think Walthamstow is simply the best place to live in London. Biased as we are, we agreed. The story encompassed everything we could have hoped for from the newsletter.

Fast forward to July 2023 and we’re ready for a change. We’ve spoken to the people behind the tiny chocolate shop where every truffle is hand-painted, reminisced on the iconic nightclub everyone went to after a night at the dogs and looked at future plans to transform E17 into a ‘mini-Amsterdam’ - but we want to give you more.

The area is one of London’s most exciting and has completely transformed itself over the last few years. We want to properly celebrate everything Walthamstow has to offer - and to build a community that cares about this place as much as we do. In order to do so we need your help.

We know times are tough at the moment - this is true for us too. From today we’ll be asking our subscribers to pay a small fee to read our newsletters.

Your contribution will help to create a sustainable future for our journalism in E17. We also hope it will help us deliver a better service than we currently do - and your views are key to this. If you have ideas, thoughts or opinions on stories we should cover then please comment below.

Thank you for following us on this journey over the last 15 months. We hope you’re willing to join us for the next exciting chapter.

Your new-look E17 is below, please consider supporting local journalism and giving it a read if you can.
