Escalators at Walthamstow Tube station had to be repaired more than 40 times in one year
They will be refurbished once new parts are delivered
Transport for London (TfL) has revealed that the escalators at Walthamstow Central station have had to have been repaired more than 40 times during the past year. Officials have ordered new parts for the machinery, but add that there is a lengthy waiting list for them due to supply chain issues.
Once these are received, reliability is expected to improve. Both escalators at the station are having ‘reliability issues’ due to their age, bosses say.
