How East 17 formed in 'derelict' Walthamstow flats
The band grew up just streets away from each other in Walthamstow
Afternoon everyone,
East 17 is best known for knocking Mariah Carey off number one spot in the Christmas charts with Stay Another Day. The song remained in the top spot for six weeks in 1994 and come December it will be blasted out on radios across the globe.
But beyond this national reputation, the fame of the band is judged slightly differently in Walthamstow. The band is clearly proud of its roots in the East London town - with its name paying homage to the very postcode it's part of.
