'I had no idea young people had strokes until I had one at the gym'
Ryan Beard, 30, from Walthamstow, says he was unable to walk or even speak after suffering a haemorrhage stroke in August
Good afternoon everyone,
Ryan Beard was finishing a set at the gym when he suddenly became light headed and dizzy. "I'd seen people faint there before," he says, "so I gave a minute for it to blow over but nothing changed."
“"I knew something wasn't right so decided to rush home. I live only two minutes away but by the time I collapsed into bed I felt dreadful.”
In today’s E17 newsletter our Walthamstow reporter Luke Donnelly speaks to Ryan Beard, an active 30-year-old whose world has turned upside down after suffering a stroke at his gym. Ryan spoke very openly about the experience and about his recovery since that terrifying day back in August.
Also today, Luke spoke to residents living near a Walthamstow park who have called on the council to prevent the continued "neglect" of the pond. Over the past few weeks dead fish and birds have been seen floating on the surface after duckweed appeared at its surface.
