Walthamstow Wilko taken over by property guardians living there within days of closure
Plus the street where residents are divided on gentrification and violent crime makes it one of the 'most dangerous'
Good afternoon everyone and welcome to another edition of E17,
Wilko on Walthamstow High Street has only been closed a matter of days but it has already been taken over.
As the company went into administration leading 111 Wilko stores shutting nationwide, the Walthamstow Wilko branch welcomed customers for the last time on Monday (September 25).
Just two days after this local residents spotted notices on the shutters stating the space is now being occupied by live-in guardians.
Also in today’s newsletter we visited Wood Street - the area has been named both the 'coolest' area of London, and 'most dangerous' in recent years.
Finally, A spectacular Fireworks Night show is set to illuminate Walthamstow. In celebration of Guy Fawkes Night, the façade of Waltham Forest Town Hall will take on a new identity from Friday November 3 to Sunday November 5.
Thanks for your support and we’ll be back next week,
Team E17
